New Year's Eve Celebration: A video of my art!

The new year is coming and with that, I find it's time to reflect on what's happened so far and look toward the future optimistically. I've only had this blog running for a couple of months, but it features art that even goes back a few years. I wanted to assemble a video celebrating what I've done so far. Now, here it is.

You will find a mix of drawings from both of my art blogs in this video. I know I definitely want to do something like this again. there is still much more to come. More art and more surprises.

I look forward to what I will be doing in the future as well. All artists improve with time, so I wonder what I'll improve on this year. I'll just keep going with my "The best is yet to come" philosophy on life and see where it takes me. It helps to fondly remember the good parts of the past, but it also helps to remember that now is the only time you can make your choices. So please, live now, not in the past. Remember the past, live now, and anticipate what's to come.

Peace and Love

A Hidden Faery.

There's a faery hiding somewhere in this picture. Can you find her?

A Sweet and Cute Faery

I had fun drawing this one and she turned out being soooo cute. ^^

Old Stuff Part VI: Old Fan Art

Some fan art from well over a year ago featuring Lady Lovely Locks and an incomplete portrait of Stormy from Rainbow Brite. Here's to getting some more olds stuff out of the way before the new year.

Almond Tea time!

Here's an illustration of the Strawberry Shortcake character, Almond Tea. Of course I felt inspired to draw an older version of herself because I thought it would be interesting. This is for my friend from Youtube with the unpronounceable name jbjnklkjnbhk.

Please enjoy.

Sweet as Cotton Candy

Finally complete. This one is for my friend WishBear2001 from the Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake forums. It's an illustration of her character based on herself, Cotton Candy. Drawn in SSC 2009 style and hugging Twink from Rainbow Brite. She was meant to be standing in the snow, but considering it took 3 tries to get a drawing that looked like this, I felt it was okay for to be just a character portrait.

I don't mind doing requests for friends, I just hope they're cool with whatever liberties I may take on the picture.

Anyway, Happy holidays, Wish. Enjoy your self-characterization.

I posted two versions. The black and white and the colour. Unfortunately the colour version looked better in real life, as my scanner dosen't seem to pick up on finer colours.

New: The Art of J3llb3ans II is up and running.

"What is The Art of J3llyb3ans II?" you may ask. In order to play it safe considering the sites I promote this blog on, I've decided to have a separate blog specifically for nude and semi-nude illustrations. I've posted a few drawings here that would fit better there, which is why I created it. I have a lot of illustrations to add to it as well. I'll be busy with new material for both blogs when I can find the time.

Mature audiences are invited to enjoy a gallery of nude or kinda nude art. Please enjoy.

Old Stuff part V: Random Catgirl

What artist who's tried drawing in an anime/manga like style hasn't drawn a few catgirls? they're too cute to resist and they're a staple of anime culture. so here's one I drew over a year ago.

Old Stuff part IV: Faeries with a crystal ball

Actually, this one isn't really that old. It's from only a few months ago. anyway, enjoy.

Old Stuff part III: Summer 2008 Faeries

In the summer of 2008, the faeries in my drawings began taking on a unique look. I thought I would share these.

Rainbows and Strawberries III: Back To Back

This one is more classic J3llyb3ans style only with less hair detail. I decided to not overdo it considering I was panning to ink this one, which I did. Once again, older versions of Rainbow and Strawberry. I'm still experimenting with styles and I've found some jusst turn out better than others. This one I think is the best of the three.

Rainbows and Strawberries II: Rainbow/Strawberry hug.

This is an earlier work that I thought I botched, then I looked at it and thought, it's ok. A little rough looking, but I can use it. It's a lot like the older Rainbow/Strawberry hug that I drew a couple months ago (which I also coloured, later on). Anyway, here's Rainbow/Strawberry hug mkII, once again featuring Rainbow and Strawberry in their latest incarnations.

Rainbows and Strawberries Part I: A Berry Colourful Friendship

The first in a set of 3 illustrations featuring Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake. I may do an exclusive 4th pic for this blog, but we'll see. This is a project I've been working on for a while, but some of my earlier works didn't meet my approval. Anyway, here's the first. It's a rough sketch featuring the original Rainbow and the second Strawberry (the 2003 version).

A Pretty Faery

I haven't posted in a while, but I've had this one ready. Here's a pretty faery for you. I have a special multi-part project I'm working on, which hasn't exactly gone as planned. I'll start adding those pictures as each one gets finished. I'd like to have the first up sometime soon.

Strawberry Sketch

Finally, Strawberry Shortcake drawn with the colouring book as reference. Of course the image I was looking at was quite possibly one of the most popular images for the new Strawberry. So here they are, all six of the girls introduced so far in the third incarnation of the SSC universe.

I think this completes my attempt at drawing each character from the colouring book, I'd like to try drawing them without the reference and see what happens. I may still need work before that.

Lemon Sketch

It's Lemon Meringue. Drawn with the colouring book as a reference. Enjoy.

Plum Sketch

Plum Pudding is here and am I ever happy with how this one turned out. Once again, I used the colouring book as a reference.

Raspberry Sketch

Yet another SCC sketch using the colouring book for reference. This time it's a sketch of Raspberry Torte. I'm beginning to realize that colouring books are a great resource for learning how to capture a characters likeness.

Orange Sketch

A sketch of Orange Blossom with the colouring book used as a reference. I think once I get the hang of this style I can create new scenes. I did make a few changes to the pic so it isn't too much like the original.

Blueberry Sketch

Yes! It's Blueberry Muffin and I'm so glad about how she turned out. Of course I had larger reference pictures this time. Last night I bought a Strawberry Shortcake colouring book to use as a reference for drawing. I may just be able to recreate the 2009 style with my art after all.

Old Stuff Part 2: Eco Friendly Magical Girls

Another pic from fall 2007 featuring a team of environmentally friendly magical girls I was thinking about writing about.

Old Stuff part 1: A Cute Girl

Today I had a chance to browse through a box full of my old sketchbooks. Looking back, I shudder at some of the things I drew that I thought were accomplishments at the time. However, I decided to dig out the illustrations that I thought were still good enough to share years later. It's true, artists do get better with time. I'm sure someday I'll look back on what I'm doing now and say "I've come a long way" I'm not putting my work down in any way by saying that, it's just something that's likely to happen.

Anyway here are two illustrations of a cute girl who dosen't have a name unfortunately. I think I may have planned to name her. I think I intended to have her be a main character in a story. Please enjoy these pics that I did back in fall 2007.

The Great Rainbow Mix-Up

Rainbow Brite and Rainbow Sherbert have mixed up their costumes in this pic I drew as a response to a request. It was actually quite fun. I also tried to emulate the second generation Strawberry Shortcake facial style as much as possible for this one.

Ginger Snap re-imagined.

I had a request for Ginger Snap in a 2009 style. At the same time I was planning a picture of her as an adult. So I combined the two ideas and here's the result.

Not Your Little Pony, My Little Pony.

Here's an attempt at Fizzy from My Little Pony. With some creative liberties taken. One thing I forgot when drawing this was her jewel looking eyes. I think that's pretty noticeable. Maybe I'll redo this one more accurately sometime.

Showing Some Love For Rose Petal

It's Rose Petal. Star of the long forgotten classic, Rose Petal Place.

Shy Violet

Shy Violet from Rainbow Brite in B&W and colour.

Lady Lovely Locks

A Lady Lovely Locks illustration.

Moon Dreamers

some illustrations of Moon Dreamers, Dream Gazer and Crystal Starr. Dream Gazer is portrayed older in these.

It's Holly Time!

A quick drawing of Holly Hobbie and friends, Carrie and Amy. I'm surprised I managed to get their likenesses down as well as I did. Granted, there are still some flaws, but drawing this picture did teach me some new things.

Rainbows and Strawberries

So I had this crazy idea for a girl x girl love fanfic starring Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake. Anyway, here's some work inspired by that idea.

Berry Special requests

Two requests for Strawberry Shortcake characters drawn older, which I gladly drew. One is the second generation Blueberry Muffin with a book and one is third generation Orange Blossom with Pupcake.

Childhood favorites invade my art

Not too long ago, I began working on fan art for a lot of classic characters. However, This time I went for their updated looks. Here are Rainbow Brite and Strawberry shortcake drawn in their most modern looks, grown up.

Creamy Mami

Some fan art of the classic anime magical girl Creamy Mami. This one is inked. One of my first experiments with inking my work.

Some old stuff
